Where it all begins
Let's Talk about the Pelvis
Our work begins with the pelvis. There are 80 muscles directly attached to the pelvis between the sternum and knees. If the pelvis is not balanced, one side is being pulled by one of those 80 muscles and none of the remaining 79 are working properly. This leads to a cascade of problems as joints above and below the pelvis suffer, muscle overuse occurs, and bone and joint degeneration follows.

The Technique
Bowen in a Nutshell
The Bowen Technique is a gentle therapy based on osteopathic principles. It is applied to the body while the client is fully clothed and each session is about 90 minutes in length.
The therapy is a rolling-type movement made with the thumbs and fingers across muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves and is designed to stimulate nerve pathways which cause a ‘conversation’ to take place. The work is similar to strumming the strings of a guitar, the brain recognizes if the area needs to be 'tuned' based on the sound or vibration that is created. Each sequence stimulates the body to recognize where it needs to heal itself.
Between each set of moves, the therapist steps away to allow the communication to occur. These breaks increase the effectiveness of each subsequent set of moves. The length of time between moves will vary throughout the session.
Bowen is very gentle, suitable for all ages, and has no contraindications. Bowen is also effective for animals and babies.
